A trip to Inverness
I had to go up to the big smoke for some training the other day. It was as dreadful as always. A few interesting/useful bits sandwiched between tedium and dullness.
One interesting point came during lunch (some sandwiches and blended vegetables, sorry soup) when some of the younger colleagues there were talking about religion. It was an interesting conversation because there were two of them both very adamant that they didn't believe in god at all. They weren't as scathing as some atheists usually are in their approach but I felt for them. I was tickled a little bit as I was, at that time, trying to come up with some ideas for my talk on Sunday. I mentioned that I was working on a sermon and asked if I could talk about what they had been saying on Sunday.
On the way home I was looking out of the window and saw this
What a view. It cheered me up no end. Well, that's not quite correct as I didn't really need cheering up but it made me smile. Of course there was the usual thought about this verse

but more than that I thought about how God cares so much for every detail. This world, the one He made and we messed up, is so amazing that he paints it with all the colours and shades at his disposal. It was a beautiful site and I prayed quietly in the car thanking God for making me live in such a great place.
